This weekend: Where to buy Catskills-made gifts

Makers, crafters and artisans across the region are gathering at holiday bazaars throughout the Catskills, showcasing locally-made crafts, fine arts and food products that all make great gifts. Here's where to shop local for the holidays during the weekend of Nov. 14 and 15.

DELAWARE COUNTY

The Craftskills, a food and crafts fair, comes to Bovina both Saturday, Nov. 14 and Sunday, Nov. 15 at the Bovina Community Center. Come down and enjoy local arts, food and music from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be local Mexican food served both days by Greenane Farms, and locally-made jewelry, pottery, woodcrafts, textiles, art and soaps, as well as Prohibition Distillery spirits, Dirty Girl Farm goat cheese and Fosterbuilt coffee, which is roasted right in town.

GREENE COUNTY

Saturday, Nov. 14 is opening day for Salon 2015 and Handmade Holidays, a craft and arts sale run by the Greene County Council on the Arts from November through January 2. The GCCA Gallery in Catskill hosts the event and will offer a wide selection of crafts and affordable fine art, all priced under $300. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. through 5 p.m., and on Saturdays from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. 

SCHOHARIE COUNTY

Sunnycrest Orchards in Sharon Springs will host a Holiday Market and Craft Show from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14 and Sunday, Nov. 15. Baked goods, jellies and jams, local produce, herbs, pickles, maple products, teas, hand-crafted woodwork, jewelry, pottery, metalwork, handmade candles, hand-sewn clothing, rugs, Alpaca products. Teepee Pete's Chili Wagon will be serving food, and Hummingbird Hills Winery and KyMar Farm Winery and Distillery will be selling wine and spirits.

SULLIVAN COUNTY

At Faith Hall in White Lake, the White Lake Reformed Presbyterians Church welcomes you to its Christmas Bazaar, where you’ll find affordable gifts, decorations, hot and cold drinks, and all sorts of items of the crafty kind. It’s happening Saturday, Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. 

ULSTER COUNTY

At the Holiday Antique Show and Flea Market, taking place at the Andy Murphy Midtown Center in Kingston on Sunday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., you’ll find an eclectic mix of antiques, vintage items, handmade crafts and collectibles. There will be activities for the kiddies, and a non-perishable food item gets you a dollar off your $5 entry fee. (It’s free for under-11-year-olds.)
