Newburgh man falls to his death at Kaaterskill Falls

A Newburgh man fell to his death from the top of Kaaterskill Falls on Saturday, Nov. 12, New York State Police report.

According to a police statement, 30-year-old Anthony Miele was hiking near the top of the two-tier falls when he slipped on ice and moss, fell into the water, and plunged 120 feet to the rocks at the base of the upper falls.

No foul play is suspected, police say.

New York State voters opted overwhelmingly for Hillary Clinton in the Presidential election on Tuesday; in unofficial results, Clinton received roughly 58.8 percent of the votes cast, while Donald Trump got 37.4 percent.

Meet the Catskills' newest outdoor store: Hunter Mountain Outfitters

Tannersville recently welcomed a new outdoors store, Hunter Mountain Outfitters. The shop celebrated its grand opening on Memorial Day weekend, and is gearing up for its first winter season. But it’s the indoor rock wall that makes the store unique in the Catskills.

“During the winter, people get so focused on skiing and snowboarding,” said proprietor Nick Bove. “We wanted to offer another activity.”
