A 22-year-old homeless man was arrested last week in Ulster County and charged with having sexual contact with a 5-year-old girl, according to a New York State Police press release.
Mario Allen was charged with one count of sexual abuse in the first degree, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child after an investigation revealed Allen allegedly engaged in sexual contact with the victim when she was left alone in his care, the press release said.
The Ulster County Family & Child Advocacy Center – which is comprised of the New York State Police, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Ulster Police Department and Ulster County Protective Services – and the Ellenville Police Department aided in the investigation. The case has been referred to the Ulster county District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Bureau, according to the press release.
Allen was arraigned in the City of Kingston Court and sent to Ulster County Jail on a $50,000 cash bail.
