Today, March 20, is Election Day in most of New York State's incorporated villages.

Many of the village trustees and other officials running in today's local elections are unopposed. But in a few villages, there are contests afoot. Here's a quick roundup of news coverage of the races to be decided around the Catskills today.

Ulster County

Of Ulster County's three villages -- Ellenville, New Paltz, and Saugerties -- only Saugerties holds its elections in March.

This year, three incumbents are running unopposed for Saugerties trustee seats.

Athens has three candidates running for two seats on the village board.

Hunter and Tannersville have uncontested village board races.

Schoharie County

Most village elections in Schoharie County are unopposed this year. Cobleskill and Esperance hold elections in November, not March.

Middleburgh has three candidates vying for the mayoral seat, and an unopposed race for two seats on the village board. Schoharie has three candidates running for two seats on the village board.

Delaware County

Delaware County also has few contested elections.

An unopposed race for the village board in Fleischmanns has sprouted a write-in campaign at the last minute.

Walton, Delhi and Hobart have contested races for the village board. Franklin and Hancock have unopposed races for the village board, and Franklin mayor John Campbell is also running unopposed for re-election.
