On Tuesday November 22, 2016, State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team along with the State Police Liberty Troopers announce the arrest of Jose Nieves-Herrera,47, of Monticello, N.Y., for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (2 counts), class B felonies, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a class B felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree, a class C felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, a class A misdemeanor, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor. As a result of a narcotics investigation State Police executed a search warrant at Nieves-Herrera residence in Monticello and recovered additional quantity of cocaine, a cane sword, and currency. Nieves-Herrera was arraigned and remanded to the custody of the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $40,000.00 cash bail.
