What does it mean to be an American in the 21st century? What does a model American do, and what responsibilities do Americans have to their communities and to each other? Have the answers to these questions changed over the history of the United States? The participants in this Reading & Discussion series will engage with these questions and others regarding politics and the current state of civic thought, feeling, and participation.

Catskill Park Coalition Seeks $10M Annual “Catskills Package”

Arkville, NY – We wish to express gratitude towards Governor Cuomo for his continued support of a fully funded Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) budgeted at $300 million. In addition, the Catskill Park Coalition was glad to see the inclusion of, at a minimum, $5 million to support the Catskills through the new Adventure NY proposal included in the Governor’s budget, though we would like to see specific details for how that money will be spent in the Catskills.

This weekend: Ice Harvest at the Hanford Mills Museum

For the past few weeks, staffers at the Hanford Mills Museum have been getting ready for Saturday's annual Ice Harvest: clearing snow from the surface of the mill pond, measuring the ice layer, and preparing for the arrival of more than 1,000 visitors eager to celebrate the harvest.
