Deposit Historical Society Announces 2016 Schedule of Programs

Wednesday, April 20, at 7:30 PM John Winkler will present "Fly Fishing as Community and Art." Everyone is invited, including all fly fishermen in this area.  John is an avid fly fisherman and a part time resident of Deposit.  Refreshments will follow the program.

Wednesday, May 18, at 7:30 PM John Goodnough will give a slide presentation on "Historical Glimpses of the Erie's Starrucca Viaduct and Related Sites."  Refreshments will follow the program. 

Sunday, May 29, Memorial Day weekend, the museum opens for the season from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. Regular museum hours will be from 2:00 - 4:00 PM on Saturdays aand Sundays.  The Genealogy and Research Center, located in the Bundy House, will be open on Tuesdays from 9:30 AM till about noon.  You may call the Bundy House to leave a message or make an appointment.  The phone number is 607-467-4422.

Saturday, June 11, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM "Olde Time Craft Fair" Enjoy craftsmen's wares, good food, 50 - 50 Raffle and museum items including tiles and publications.  Music will be provided by the West Branch Ramblers.

Wednesday, June 15, at 7:30 PM Vicky House, Oxford Town and Village Historian, will present "Covered Bridges and their Role in the Civil War." Storyboards will be used in the presentation.  Refreshments will follow the program.

Saturday, July 16, 2016, Our Annual Homemade Brown Bread Sale. Look for our booth on Front Street during Deposit Days from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Also available, will be museum items including tiles and historical publications.

Wednesday, July 20, at 7:30 PM Local Artist, Aksel Pedersen, will present "Winslow Homer, Civil War Chronicler."  Homer's works will be shown with a slide presentation by Pedersen, an artist, art teacher, and art historian.  Refreshments will follow the program.

Wednesday, August 17, at 7:30 PM David Wasser will speak on "Binghamton's Architect of Note, Isaac Perry".  Wasser, an educator, an administrator, and portrayer of Binghamton ghosts of the past, is known for portraying both Issaac Perry and Sherman Phelps, the original owner of the Phelps Mansion, during hometown events.  Refreshments will follow the program.

Saturday, August 20, "Everything Auction" at the Museum. Preview 9:00 AM till 10:00 AM.  Auction starts at 10:00 AM; till all is sold.

Wednesday, September 21, at 7:30 PM George Cummings, noted Revolutionary War Impersonator, will speak on "How George Washington Started the French and Indian War."

Sunday, October 9, 2016, Columbus Day Weekend, the museum will be open today from 2:00 - 4:00 PM, close for the season, and open again in the Spring for museum tours.

Sunday, October 13, 2016, Our Annual Harvest Pie Sale will be held at our booth on front Street during Oktoberfest.  Come early for the largest selection of delicious pies.  Also available at our booth, will be tiles and historical publications of local interest.  We will be open from 10:00 AM till 3:00 PM

Friday, November 18, Deposit Historical Society "High End Auction" will begin with a tour of the Bundy House at noon followed by refreshments in the museum.  The auction will begin at 2:00 PM in the museum an continue till all is sold.
