Arts around the Catskills this weekend

With the weather warming up, fine art galleries are beginning to come out of hibernation, and there are plenty of artsy events happening around the mountains this weekend.

If you're so inclined, you could make a day of it along Route 28 on Saturday: First, swing by Arkville at 2pm to meet naturalist painter Gail Bunting. Then stop by the Emerson, which from 2 to 4pm is celebrating its current show by three longtime Woodstock artists, Jack Taylor, Andree Ruellan, and Dan Gelfand. Finally, kick back on Phoenicia's Main Street, where the Arts Upstairs and Cabane Gallery are holding dual openings at 6pm. (We hear there will be potluck.)

For those of you who tend to hang out a little further east, the Woodstock Artists' Association and Museum is hosting a gallery talk at 4pm on Saturday by curator Paterson Sims, who's speaking about Far And Wide, the third annual Woodstock Regional exhibit that's currently up in the gallery. Also at 4pm, there's an opening reception at the Kleinert/James Gallery for their annual members' show.
