Freeman layoff day will live in infamy

The Times Herald-Record reports that those tentative plans to shutter the Daily Freeman's local printing press and mailroom are looking a lot less tentative:

The Daily Freeman newspaper has filed the required state and federal notices that the paper might lay off 61 of its 100 employees on Dec. 7.

Odd that the Freeman should choose the date of the attacks on Pearl Harbor for its potential layoffs. Doesn't that ensure that layoff day will be a "day that will live in infamy?"

There's nothing about the recent paperwork filing, or any other updates on the looming layoffs, from Freeman publisher Ira Fusfeld on his blog.
