Over at Breathing Is Political, Liz Bucar has an account of a recent Delaware River Basin Commission hearing on proposed gas drilling, in which several Pennsylvania business owners said their plans were on hold because of the uncertainty surrounding drilling.

Susan Blenkensap  stated,   “My neighbor is  a  lifelong  resident. She had  a real estate agency  for   30 years.  She closed her doors because she couldn’t, in conscience,  sell property  to people when the land is under threat of drilling.”

Sullivan County offices are closed today, the Catskill Chronicle reports.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Sullivan County. A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. In addition, heavy wet snow could also cause scattered power outages across the area.

Delaware County is closed for business as well.

For farmers, the article says, selling online is far less labor-intensive than an on-farm store.
