What to do with that deerskin

Have a few deer hides lying around? The Catskill Forest Association is hosting a two-day workshop on how to turn a raw deer hide into buckskin, a kind of soft leather akin to suede.

The process of making a hide into buckskin isn't easy. According to Wikipedia, it involves scraping, dressing, stretching, and then smoking. This is just the kind of thing you have to watch in order to learn.

The deadline for registering for the CFA's workship is tomorrow; the workshop itself will be held in May. For more details, see our calendar entry for the workshop.
