Recount in NY-100: If they keep it up long enough, it'll be election time again

Quote of the day: Former GOP Assemblyman Thomas Kirwan, who may or may not be representing New York's 100th Assembly District for the next two years, depending on the outcome of a vote recount that is still (believe it or not) dragging on. From the Daily Freeman:

Kirwan, who held that seat before [Frank] Skartados beat him two years ago, expressed frustration. “It looks like the fat lady has left the building and I think the orchestra has, too,” he said. “I think the only people still left are my opponent, our lawyers and me.”

The story notes that the difference between front-runner Kirwan and Skartados is just a few dozen votes, and the process is being held up over a handful of unopened absentee ballots that Skartados wants counted.
