Flooding in Cobleskill closes schools

Flooding in Cobleskill today had students from the local public school district sheltering in the school buildings, and shut down classes at SUNY Cobleskill, according to a YNN report published at 7:42pm.

Major flooding is causing some major issues around Cobleskill.

Several roads are closed due to flooding, and students and staff in the Cobleskill-Richmondville School District are being sheltered in all four district school buildings. Parents who are able to safely get to the school to pick up their children should report to the main office to sign the child out.

Classes are cancelled at Cobleskill-Richmondville tomorrow. To keep tabs on Cobleskill-Richmondville School District, check their website, where they are posting regular updates.

YNN also reports the following:

Road closures include Route 7 from Warnervillle into Cobleskill, Route 7 from Dunkin' Donuts to Burger King, South Grand Street from Main Street to Mineral Springs Road, Elm Street from North Grand to Warnerville cut-off, and Route 145 from Settles Mountain Road from Lawyersville into Cobleskill.

Meanwhile, classes at SUNY Cobleskill were canceled as of 1:45 p.m. due to the flooding.

A Red Cross shelter is also open at Cobleskill-Richmondville Middle School on Washington Avenue due to today's heavy rains.
