Flags at half-mast in honor of PFC Doug Cordo

Shandaken town supervisor Rob Stanley told the Watershed Post yesterday that flags throughout Shandaken will be at half-mast this week in honor of Pfc Douglas Cordo, who was killed last week in Afghanistan. The Daily Freeman had a nice tribute to Cordo here.

Cordo's grandmother, Helen, is a Phoenicia resident. Stanley told us via email that there will be a moment of silence at this weekend's Shandaken Day in honor of Cordo and his family:

Know that we recently lost PFC Doug Cordo from Kingston. The Town has placed all flags at half-staff through the week. Additionally, at the opening of Shandaken Day we will ask for a moment of silence and dedicate the day's festivities in his honor. Know that his grandmother, Helen, lives in Phoenicia, is a well-respected member of the community and a past "Pride of Shandaken" award recipient. The entire Town's hearts and prayers go out to her and her family.
