Chichester resident charged with harassment

Yesterday, 60-year-old Chichester resident Stevan Alburty was arrested for allegedly harassing three different complainants, according to a press release issued by the Shandaken Police Department.

Alburty was charged with five counts of aggravated harassment, three counts of criminal  contempt in the second degree for violating an order of protection, and one count of violation of harassment. He was released to appear at a later court date.

The Watershed Post reached Alburty this morning by telephone. Alburty said that the alleged harassment was a series of emails he sent after a dispute with some friends.

"This has been going on since February of last year," Alburty said. "And it's all about email. What has happened to our world where email is considered such an incredible violation?"
