Bear that attacked woman to be trapped, killed

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation officers have set a large trap for the bear that knocked down a Cairo woman in front of her home earlier this week, the Daily Mail reports. The first bear that is caught in the trap will be killed, according to the story, which gives more details about the attack:

Joy Bayer, 53, of Alpine Drive was knocked down by a bear Wednesday afternoon after going to investigate an overturned garbage container and trash that had been strewn into a nearby wooded area.

The animal pinned Bayer to the ground with one of its paws while it foraged for food. When the animal was finished, it released Bayer and fled into the wilderness.
