Who steals from Toys for Tots? This guy.

The New York State Police are conducting a manhunt for a grinch with a penchant for plaid and fingerless gloves who pinched a stuffed animal from a Toys for Tots box in the Town of Ulster last month. That's his photo above, taken by surveilance cameras at the Washington Avenue Quick Chek.

Adam Bosch at the Times Herald-Record has one more detail that's not in the press release from the staties: the identify of the stuffed animal, which the cops only describe as "large" and "white. According to Bosch, it was a three-foot tall gorilla.

The New York State Police at Kingston are investigating a theft from the Toys for Tots donation box which was located at the Quick Chek on Washington Ave. in the Town of Ulster that occurred on 11/22/10. The suspect removed a large white stuffed animal and fled out the front door of the store. State Police are requesting assistance in identifying the subject in the attached photo from video surveillance. The perpetrator is described as a white male wearing a plaid jacket and fingerless gray gloves. Persons with information are asked to contact State Police at (845) 338-1702 all information will be kept Confidential.
