World War II-Era Food Workshop, August 15

Do you like to cook? Do you like history? If the answer is a resounding “yes,” then come to the Delaware County Historical Association on Saturday, August 15 at 1pm to experience the food of World War II! Participants will get a chance to make their own ginger cake to take home, and DCHA's own Samantha Misa will be on hand to demonstrate three other recipes that everyone will get to sample. On the menu is Wartime Berry Shortbread, potato cakes, and carrot cookies. The workshop is suitable for all ages and skill levels. Participants will receive a booklet of the recipes demonstrated.

There is a small fee of $5 per person to offset the cost of ingredients. Registration is helpful to ensure that there is enough material on hand, and while the general public is invited to come and watch, only those who register by August 14 are guaranteed an opportunity to try their hand at food preparation. Call DCHA at 607-746-3849 or e-mail [email protected] to register, or for more information.

This is the final in a series of four hands-on workshops designed to introduce participants to typical foods and dishes of a particular era. DCHA is located two miles north of the village of Delhi at 46549 State Hwy. 10.
