Wednesday Night’s Show: Thirty Years in Forest Management

CFA-On-The-Air: From the Forest
Wednesdays 6PM – 7PM
WIOX ROXBURY 91.3FM or www.wioxradio.org

From the Forest will be interviewing CFA’s own – Jim Waters. Jim is CFA’s Executive Director. Before coming to the Catskill Forest Association, Jim worked for some large forest management companies in the Adirondacks. We’ll ask Jim about his experiences there & how they compare to management in the Catskills. Tune in at 91.3 FM or stream online @ www.wioxradio.org to learn more.

WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?
More reports of fewer deer being harvested this deer season from many regions of New York State. It seems the last 2 winters did have a significant impact on deer population, especially in the more mountainous areas where food sources are scarce. We’ll see. Anecdotally, I can vouch for the area near where I live in central Ulster County; it does seem like there are fewer deer. But again, that doesn’t mean fewer deer impacts on the forest understory. We need to better manage our forests to remedy that problem.

May the forest be with you,
Ryan Trapani
