The Orphic Gallery in Roxbury, NY is pleased to announce the opening of Postal Mix Tapes the Musical Stamp Series of Didier Cremieux.  These original, painstakingly hand-made stamps and posters include images of opera divas, hip hop legends, rockabilly stars, rembetika masters, famous conductors, Texas swing giants and perhaps some luminaries familiar to the Catskills, and are guaranteed to delight music-lovers of all genres. The exhibit will open on Saturday, October 11th, 2014, with an artist’s reception from 5 to 8 pm and will be on display at the gallery until November 30.

Didier Cremieux is a graphic artist, illustrator and a musician living in the USA since his arrival from France in 1977.   His work ranges from painting and collage to editorial illustration and music packaging.  Didier’s artwork has been exhibited since the 80s in galleries and alternative spaces - Postcard Palace, Altarpiece,   Bibliomancy and The Offensive in  San Francisco, and in group shows in France and Germany.

His illustrations appeared in magazines and newspapers around the world; in the early 1980-s he contributed to Emigré magazine, a publication, which is now in permanent design collections of museums around the world. Didier is currently focused on painting, printing and co-producing his music as Mr. Untel with French producer Gerard Langella.

The Postal Mix Tapes, The Musical Stamp Series, is an on-going graphic project using a postage stamp sheet format as a medium to celebrate music of various eras and continents.   Each stamp sheet, with an introductory poster, pays homage to a specific musical style, making it an illustrated play list and a musical who's who.  Included in this exhibit are signed series of handmade perforated stamp sheets –Inkjet prints on various media, with additional rubber stamp markings; and  limited edition Posters - signed and numbered inkjet prints on Canson 100% rag paper with archival inks.
