Motown Dance Party at The Orphic Gallery, Saturday, October 25th

Contemporary musicology, superb concert photography, artisanal poetics, postal modern audiophilately – The Orphic Gallery has seen a flurry of cultural endeavors this autumn.  All too serious, you may opine.  No fun, you might say.  Well now it’s your time to dance then.  The gallery is pleased to announce a Motown Dance Party set for Saturday, October 25th from 7 to 11 pm. 

The music that evening will celebrate the extraordinary musical traditions of Detroit Motor City as selected by DJ Grandmagister P with an emphasis on the soul sounds made famous by the Motown label including Martha & The Vandellas, The Four Tops, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Gladys Knight and The Pips, The Jackson 5, and Rick James.  Later in the evening the incredible history of Detroit Rock & Roll will be featured from the MC5 and Iggy Pop, Bob Seger and Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels  to Kid Rock and The White Stripes.
