Holiday Shopping Guide for the Great Western Catskills

There is snow on the ground and sitting on treetops. Main Streets throughout Delaware County are being dressed for the season, and a festive (though cold) wind is in the air! Thanksgiving is upon us and, like gravy on turkey, we’ve rounded up those uniquely Catskills markets to make your holidays complete!

Saturday, November 22nd

DELHI:  The Catskill Mountain Artisans Guild is hosting a Pre-Thanksgiving Early Bird Sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 76 Main Street. Not in Delhi? Visit their Margaretville location for more great locally made arts and crafts.

Sunday, November 23rd

TREADWELL:  The “Holidays are for Sharing” Arts and Craft Show features local artisans for a cause! Substantially discounted artwork will be available at this benefit for the Heart of the Catskills Humane Society. Bring a wish list item, such as canned cat food, dog treats, newspapers, paper towels, cat toys or cash, between 1 and 5 p.m., to receive a reproduction print of “Moon Struck.”

Friday & Saturday, November 28th & 29th

BOVINA:  Christmas at the Creamery returns for another year of unique gifts for everyone on your list! Head to Creamery Road in Bovina for handmade gifts, wreaths and trees, pottery, antiques, baked goods, ornaments, collectibles and FUN! Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Friday-Sunday, November 28th through 30th

HOBART:  Are books on your gift-giving list? The Huge Thanksgiving Weekend Sale in the Book Village of the Catskills offers 30% off at all six bookshops in Hobart (excluding books on consignment or on special reserve.) Explore the unique shops in this book-lovers paradise!

Saturday, November 29th

HAMDEN:  The Lucky Dog Farm Store Holiday Market features the store’s vendors offering “lovely and functional products” great for holiday gifting. Meet the makers of Cowbella, Rachelle’s Rustic Wreaths, Discomedusa and more! The market will run from Noon to 3 p.m., and the first 16 buyers will receive a free reusable shopping bag!

MARGARETVILLE:  Holiday on Main offers shopping and free events all day! From 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. enjoy crafting, gift making, gallery exhibits, shopping, tastings, hayrides and music. Santa will meet children for photos and wish lists from 2 to 4:30 p.m. End the day with caroling and the tree lighting at 5 p.m. on the Town Square.

WALTON:  A special day of events awaits you in Walton. Visit you favorite local stores and establishments for holiday happenings, and don’t miss the parade featuring Santa and Mrs. Claus!

DELHI:  Burn Ayr Farm, on State Highway 28, is hosting a Holiday Pop-Up Farm Market, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring local products from Tay Teas, Apple Sax Bakery, Ideuma Creek Alpaca, Annie Hayes, Maplewood Farm, Little Delaware Pottery, Greentree Home Candle and more! Make it your last stop of the day and bring home your wreaths and tree too!

Friday, December 5th

DELHI:  Santa is coming to SUNY Delhi for the Annual Holiday Bazaar! Head to Farrell Center between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. for stocking stuffers, jewelry, books, crafts and gift ideas!

Saturday, December 6th

ROXBURY:  It’s a day of fun in Roxbury! The Roxbury Arts Group will be hosting a Local Arts Market, featuring artists and artisans who live and work in our region, and Small Works, a new exhibit in the Walt Meade Gallery of the Roxbury Arts Center, featuring the works of over 25 artists. A Trombone-Tooting Santa Claus will be making an appearance and the Roxbury Girl Scout Troop will be caroling throughout the day! Stay for the Roxbury Christmas Tree Lighting on Main Street at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Greater Roxbury Business Association Community Holiday Party from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Roxbury Arts Center.

DELHI:  The 10th Annual Holiday for a Heart Tree Celebration features 30 beautifully decorated, pre-lit trees for raffle, as well as gift shopping, live musical entertainment, a bake sale, light fare, holiday wreaths and more! All proceeds go to benefit the homeless cats and dogs at the Heart of the Catskills Humane Society.

BLOOMVILLE:  Head over to Bloomville for a holiday shopping event at the Bloomvile Firehouse from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Saturdays, December 6th and 13th

ANDES:  The Andes Indoor Farmers’ Market launches a Pop-Up Holiday Market for two weekends in December, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for holiday food and craft shopping! 

Sunday, December 7th

FLEISCHMANNS: Bring the kids to the Fleischmanns Children's Holiday Party for games, a tractor hay ride, and pictures with Santa while you shop local crafts, at the Fleischmanns Fire Hall from 2 to 4 p.m.

HAMDEN:  From 1 to 5 p.m., visit the Hamden Town Hall's Christmas Bazaar for gifts and local craft items.

Saturday, December 13th

ROXBURY:  Santa is coming to the Roxbury Fire House with gifts, refreshments, and of course, fire trucks!

WALTON:  Multi-vendor holiday shopping at the Christmas Bazaar of Walton for all your last-minute gifts!

FRANKLIN:  Featuring 30 local vendors offering hundreds of gifts and goods from edibles to art, will be at the Franklin Holiday Market from noon to 4 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday, December 13th and 14th

DELHI:  Trees, wreaths, local gifts, ornaments, handmade items, gift baskets, baked goods, and more can be found at Maple Shade Farm's Christmas on the Farm! Santa arrives at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Saturday, December 20th

STAMFORD:  From local farm products for your holiday meal to locally made gifts, the Stamford Holiday Pop-Up Market is a great place to shop for the holidays, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Churchill Gym.
