Fire during motorcycle rally burns down Blackthorne Resort

A fire broke out yesterday afternoon at an East Durham resort that is hosting an enormous motorcycle rally this weekend, report the Daily Freeman, the Times Union, the Daily Mail, and a host of television stations.  According to CBS, the fire destroyed the main building on the resort, and was caused by a can of Sterno:

Fire Chief Rusty Sala says the fire was an accident, somehow caused by a can of Sterno, used for warming food. Sala said no one was injured in the fire.

Happily, the fire caused no injuries and the rally went on uninterrupted, according to the Times Union:

Nevertheless, the Catskill Mountain Thunder Rally went on, with hundreds of bikers strolling the grounds and listening to live music despite the ongoing fire scene and the thick smoke hanging over the resort. Away from its now-destroyed main building, the Blackthorne offers RV hookups and campgrounds and terraced views of the mountains.
