On Wednesday. August 27th at 7 pm on The Orphic Radio Hour on WIOX Community Radio, Bob Gruen will appear live on the air from the WIOX studio in Roxbury.  The program is available on 91.3 FM for those in the Roxbury and Central Catskill region, MTC Cable channel 20, and streaming to the world on wioxradio.org.

Bob Gruen is one of the most well-known and respected photographers in Rock and Roll.  By the mid '70s Bob Gruen was already regarded as one of the foremost documenters of the scene working with major attractions such as John Lennon & Yoko Ono, Tina Turner, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, and Kiss.  He also covered the emerging New Wave and Punk bands including The New York Dolls, Patti Smith, Clash, Sex Pistols, Ramones & Blondie.

On the program we will preview the upcoming exhibit, ROCK SEEN, opening on August 29th at the Orphic Gallery. We will talk with Bob about his storied career as one of the premier rock photographers, touching upon Bob Dylan’s performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, his very close friendship with John Lennon and Yoko Ono throughout the 1970s, touring with Led Zeppelin in their customized private plane in 1973, and his travels with the Sex Pistols on their notorious 1978 sojourn through the hinterland of the USA.

The Orphic Gallery will host an opening reception for ROCK SEEN with Bob Gruen in attendance on Friday, August 29th from 5 to 8 pm.  The gallery is located at the corner of Main & Bridge Streets in Roxbury.
