WIOX A Go Go to Feature Orphic Artists

Jimi Hendrix at Winterland by Allan Tannenbaum

Orphic Gallery artists will be well represented at the WIOX Go Go Dance Party on Saturday June 21st at the WIOX Studio on Bridge Street in Roxbury.  Photographers Allan Tannenbaum and Peter Stupar, and Vinyl Pop Art portraitist Greg Frederick have all donated works to the station for inclusion in the raffle and auction that will be part of the festivities that night.

The WIOX A-Go-Go Rock & Roll Dance Party will occur from 7 to 10 pm and your $10 admission will support Roxbury’s community radio station.  The party will feature fabulous prizes, boffo raffles, libations and … mondo dancing with real live go go dancers in cages.  A free glass of wine will be served to the first 100 dancers on the floor.  The psychedelic décor and black lights are not to be missed and certain to induce fond memories of the era.

Allan Tannenbaum has generously donated a photograph of Jimi Hendrix from his performance at the Winterland Ballroom – the first concert pictures Allan took in his storied photography career.  Peter Stupar has offered up a print of Frank Zappa from the Atlantic City Pop Festival in 1969 when he joined the professional photographers in the pit at the age of 16.  Greg Frederick has gifted a portrait of jerry Garcia fashioned out of broken vinyl records on a flowery powerful yet subtle background.

The Orphic Gallery is proud to support WIOX and their A Go Go Dance Party and applauds the munificence of these artists in donating their works to the cause.  We encourage everyone to come out to the benefit tomorrow night in full period regalia and trip the lights fantastic.
