Winter Workshops

Saturday, January 11 ~ Basket Weaving Workshop ~ 12:30pm – 4:30pm

Adults and teens alike are encouraged to come and learn basic basket weaving techniques while constructing a colorful and functional basket made with natural reed.  No experience necessary. Class taught by master basket weaver, Martha Bremer who has been teaching and weaving baskets regionally for the past 30 years. Registration required by January 4th. Saturday, January 25 ~ Quilting Workshop: Hand Piecing ~ 10:00am – 4:00pm

Adults and children (over 12) alike are encouraged to come learn the basics of hand piecing - or perhaps to refresh their rusty skills. Workshop taught by Lesley Gray, an experienced quilter who was inducted into the Catskill Mountain Quilters Hall of Fame in 2007. Using a Churn Dash block students will learn basic drafting instruction, address the most common basic shapes of quilt making and the importance of weft, warp and bias grain lines. Templates, marking options, sewing techniques and pressing methods will also be covered. (Bring your own bag lunch) Registration required by January 17th. Saturday, February 8, 2014 ~ Quilting Workshop: The Many Ways to Appliqué ~ 10:00am – 4:00pm

Adults and children (over 12) alike are encouraged to come learn the basics of appliqué - or perhaps to refresh their rusty skills. The workshop will be taught by Lesley Gray, an experienced quilter. Using a heart shape pattern 4-6 varieties of appliqué will be taught; including needle turn, basting edges, freezer paper on the right side and wrong side of the fabric, use of templar, a heat resistant plastic, reverse appliqué and fusible products.
