The Orphic Gallery is pleased to announce the celebration of its first year anniversary with the opening on August 31st of ENCORE welcoming back Peter Stupar and his fantastic array of concert photos from San Francisco.  The opening from 5-7 pm that Saturday will serve as the official after party of the Busk & Bard Street Performers Street Festival and will feature a performance by Noel Fletcher – an 8 year old guitar prodigy performing songs by the Who and other standards.

Peter Stupar’s work has chronicled the illustrious history of live music in the San Francisco Bay Area capturing such milestones as The Band’s Last Waltz and the final performance of the Sex Pistols.  His exceptional collection of photographs that is comprised of over 7500 pictures contains iconic images from concerts by the Rolling Stones, The Who, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Roxy Music, and other luminaries from the pantheon of rock & roll.

This rock & roll photographer extraordinaire returns to the Orphic Gallery by popular demand and will present ENCORE! that will include crowd pleasers from his first exhibit at the gallery – All Most Famous - and new images from his stunning portfolio.  In addition to photographs of notable San Francisco Bay Area concerts, Peter has travelled far into his personal archives and will present rare prints of some his earliest work from the Atlantic City Pop Festival and DC area shows he documented as a brazen teenager.

Noel Fletcher has been playing guitar since he was three. Now eight, he has already notched up official performances on various Catskills stages, including the Woodstock Concerts on the Green (where he returns in 2013), the Catskill Cabaradio (as recorded live in Pine Hill), the Bearsville Theater and accompanying Utopia studio, and the Woodstock Sanctuary’s annual Jamboree.  Noel has also performed at Strawberry Fields in New York’s Central Park and just recently in London at the famed Portobello Road Market.

A short set by Noel Fletcher typically includes songs by his favorite band, The Who, and the imaginative children’s musical character, Gustafer Yellowgold, with a Beatles or Elvis tune thrown in for good measure, and perhaps one of his own nascent compositions. While Noel has been booked formally on the occasions listed above (and more), he takes most pleasure from busking which he will do Saturday afternoon at the Busk & Bard Festival before taking the stage at 6 pm at the Orphic Gallery.

The Orphic Gallery opened the summer of 2012 in the artistic enclave of Roxbury, NY. The gallery exclusively exhibits art related to music including photographs, concert posters, musical instruments, portraits of musicians, souvenirs of musical events, specimens of musical technology, etc.  All work exhibited at the gallery has a definite connection to the world of music, and it features exhibits based on both local music history, and musical traditions from around the USA and abroad.

ENCORE opens Saturday August 31st with a reception from 5 – 7 pm following Busk & Bard at the Orphic Gallery, located at Main and Bridge streets in Roxbury.  More information at orphicgallery.com and peterstupar.com.
