Record Breaker to Close with a Literal Bash at Orphic Gallery on Saturday June 25th

Artist Greg Frederick

The Record Breaker exhibit at the Orphic Gallery will close with an actual smash on Satruday, June 25th from 4-7 pm when artist Greg Frederick will give a demonstration at the closing party of how he breaks vinyl lps and 45s to make the components for his stunning portraiture.  The gallery will donate a select group of decrepit records for this live action exhibition of artistic technique and donate the resultant shards of vinyl to Mr. Frederick to reincarnate as resplendent works of art.  Audiophiles and avid vinyl collectors rest assured - no playable albums or singles will be destroyed in this demonstration.

In addition, blues guitarist extraordinaire Zonder Kennedy will do some damage of his own performing two sets with his band The Scoville Junkies at 5 and 6 pm.  Zonder and his wife Lata introduced Greg Frederick to the Orphic Gallery so it's apropos for ZK to help bid the show adieu.  Weather permitting the performance will occur on the very keen deck of the Roxbury Corner Store and all ages are welcome to attend this astonishing collision of music and art.

RECORD BREAKER is a genuine tour de force consisting of portraits of musical luminaries from Frank Sinatra to Notorious B.I.G., all composed of recycled vinyl LPs and 45s.  Most extraordinary are the large scale works – 4x4 images of The Ramones, Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson – which Greg is showing for the first time in Roxbury.  Along with the other fifty works in the exhibit, Record Breaker is a panorama of iconic images from the rock/pop pantheon exquisitely rendered in vinyl with backgrounds of LP sleeves, newspaper articles or simply painted surfaces.

The Orphic Gallery is located at the Roxbury Corner Store at 53525 State Highway 30, Roxbury, NY, at the corner of Main and Bridge Streets.
