February Chicken Box Special, & CSA Sign Up!

Hi,
We'll be open this Saturday, Feb. 2 from 11am-3pm.  (And every Saturday except for blizzards!!)

February Ben Franklin Chicken Box Special
Our most popular annual winter special!  For one Ben Franklin, also known as a $100 bill, a "C note," you can get over $130 worth of our pastured chicken. Great savings!

Each box will contain:
2 whole chickens ranging 4-5 pounds
4 "airline " breasts (with a wing, on the bone)
4 full legs (thigh and drumstick together)
2 boneless breasts
Your choice of a package of wings or Herbes de Provence Chicken Sausage

Contact us to order this chicken box.  You can pick it up at our farm store any Saturday in February, or at the  Saugerties Farmers Market, Sunday, Feb. 10.  Please reserve it ahead so we know to assemble it for you!  And remember to tell us which you want, the wings or chicken sausage!

Nettle Meadow Cheese Sale
Those luscious Kunik, Crane Mountain and Three Sisters cheeses will be 15% off this Saturday, and next Saturday (if there is any left!) They are at peak ripeness, absolute perfection, and should be enjoyed now!  I don't want them sitting around a few more weeks, going past their "best by" date. Dig in!

Join our meat and poultry CSA!
Monthly boxes of selections of meat and/or poultry starting in June! Contact us for a e-mail copy of the application form. Join by the end of March for the full benefits.

Bees Knees Soup Kitchen
During the summer and fall, the cafe gets many of its vegetables from Stoneledge Farm (organic), Story Farm  and Barbers Farm Stand. Barbers, on Rt. 30 south of Middleburgh, is open on weekends all winter with greenhouse greens, storage vegetables and fruits as well as other food items. They even have their own broccoli, squash, peppers and crushed tomatoes conveniently available frozen. Their gorgeous cabbages, squashes, carrots, onions and greens screamed at me "Minestrone!"

Minestrone Soup
Oink and Moo Chili
Corn Muffins
Italian Bread
A dessert yet to be named!

Big woolly ewes are well dressed for the winter weather.  Heated water buckets are essential!  Between our neighbor Lora's wonderful barn where the sheep winter (shown here) and our assorted sheds, all the animals have good shelter. (Farm tour coming up Feb. 23!)  Photo by Anna Plattner

Hope to see  you soon!

Best,

Carol
