Historic Steamtown Trip Planned

The Delaware County Historical Association is offering a one-day trip on a luxury motor coach to “Steamtown National Historic Site” in Scranton, PA. Please join us on Thursday, October 11, 2012 as we travel on a luxury motor coach from Delhi via Oneonta to this marvelous open-air museum administered by the National Park Service (www.nps.gov/stea/index.htm).

Steamtown NHS occupies approximately 40 acres of the former Scranton yards of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad. The entire yard is open whenever the park is open. In addition to the numerous examples of locomotives and carriages, etc., Steamtown NHS boasts a technology museum and a history museum. Visitors can take a short train excursion, tour the roundhouse, and view special exhibits, movies and more.

The cost of this day-trip is only $70 for DCHA members and $80 for non-members, a portion of which is used to raise funds for our county’s museum (price includes bus, all admissions and dinner). Passengers may board the motor coach in Delhi at 8:00am and in Oneonta at 8:30am. After a stop for dinner on the return trip, we estimate our return time to be approximately 9:00pm in Oneonta and 9:30pm in Delhi.
