Author Frank Waterman to Speak on Delaware County and the Civil War

On Saturday afternoon, September 15 local author Frank M. Waterman will give a presentation in Delhi based upon his recent book, Civil War Letters of Clark and James McDonald. Mr. Waterman’s talk will be held at the Delaware County Historical Association, beginning at 3pm. He will be available afterwards to sign copies of his book.

Meredith brothers, Clark and James McDonald, enlisted in the Civil War on October 7, 1861. This program is based on 164 of their letters that were donated to the Delaware County Historical Association. These letters chronicle the brothers’ experiences during the War, including James’ graphic description of the Battle of Fair Oaks, their sightings of the Merrimack, Clark’s interactions with former slaves who had gotten to the Union lines, and what it took to become an officer.

Admission to this event is free.
