Fresh Chicken, Subscription Boxes and Farm Tour this Weekend

Hi,
Another fine summer weekend predicted.  Come on over and enjoy lunch at our shaded picnic tables overlooking the mountains!  These are the glorious summer days.  Farm tour at 11am, on Sunday, August 26.

Fresh chicken and our grassfed beef hot dogs will be in the coolers.  We are well stocked with local cheeses, and you can enjoy some of them on our Charcuterie and Cheese Platter.  We have cheeses from Brovetto Dairy, Cooperstown Cheese and Nettle Meadow Farm.  The plan is to make a new batch of Irish Bangers (pork sausage) this week, so look for them in the freezer.

Garlic
Our neighbors, the Cook Family Farm, have brought us German Red garlic ... more varieties are drying and will be at our store soon.  Bob Beyfuss says the bit of rain has helped the mushrooms emerge again in the forests, so we may have some for sale this weekend.

Jane Hershey will be here with her potted plants for sale.  Ask her about plants for attracting birds, bees and butterflies.  We have examples growing in our garden she can point out.

Lamb
We will have fresh lamb next weekend, Labor Day weekend (already)! You can buy it by the piece in our cooler (glad to reserve certain cuts for you) or you can buy a whole lamb, cut to your order.  Contact me ASAP if you are interested in a whole lamb, and I will go over the cutting instruction form with you.

Sides of Beef and Pork
Since we raise our animals on pasture, the end of the grass season (fall) is when most of the harvesting happens.  If you are interested in sides of beef, pork and whole lambs, let me know. They will be available in September, October and November.

Thanksgiving Turkeys
Reserve your Thanksgiving bird now! $4.95/lb. if reserved by September 1.  I may have to increase the price after that ... the price of feed is skyrocketing.  I hope I don't have to raise it, but....

Bees Knees Cafe Menu
John has been bringing the Bronx out in all of us!  We've been on an egg cream binge at home, so we thought we'd offer them at the Cafe, too.  No egg, no cream, just a refreshing classic New York City cooler of milk, U-Bet chocolate syrup stirred up with seltzer.

Corn and Chicken Chowder with Roasted Red Peppers 6
Braised and Grilled Brazilian Short Ribs over rice (we had this on the menu early in the summer and now it's back by popular demand) 11
BLTs (tis the season!) 10
Cuban Sandwich - a classic roasted marinated pork pressed sandwich 10
Roasted Eggplant, Squash and Cheese Panini 9
Charcuterie and Cheese Platter 13.50
Hot Dogs and Chili Dogs

Photo:  Our ram, Anakin, the nice stocky horned boy in the background, fathered our Icelandic lambs this season. In the foreground is Captain Jack, his wether companion. (castrated male).  The ram yard is next to our house and I see them first thing in the morning outside my kitchen window.  They are watching the dog, Finn, run around.
