Civil War Re-enactment Weekend at the Schoolhouse in Sidney Center - June 29, 30 & July 1


People from all over Delaware County and neighboring states are invited to attend the three day CIVIL WAR re-enactment on the grounds of THE SCHOOLHOUSE in Sidney Center, New York 13839  (10770 County Route 23 on the knoll coming into town).  Troops from the NORTH and the SOUTH will arrive on Friday beginning at mid-day.  An open COMMUNITY DINNER will be offered Friday evening, June 29th, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. featuring  all your favorite ‘Americana’ foods with ice cream provided by the Maywood Historical Group.  SATURDAY morning, June 30th, camp opens at 10 a.m.. Throughout the day there will be Saber drills, living history displays, including” Women of the Civil War." A major battle is planned at 2 p.m. with horses, cannons and authentic weaponry.  A Civil War physician will be in attendance as will General Ulysses S. Grant himself.   In fact, the actual great-grandson of a survivor of ANDERSONVILLE PRISON will also present and show his family’s memorabilia.  Saturday evening:   A dinner to honor the re-enactors at 5:30 p.m. provided by Greater Maywood Rural Community Services, Inc. (open to the public, too) followed by a CIVIL WAR DANCE from 7 till 10 p.m.  This outdoor fun time will feature the “Crooked-Stove-Pipe Band" of Syracuse, New York.  Come  in period clothes if you wish!  Sunday: Saber Drill at 10:30 and Living History Displays throughout the day.  11:00 a.m. Authentic CIVIL WAR CHURCH Service  lead by a Chaplain from the North.
