Snow headed for Catskills

A winter storm is headed toward the Catskills and Hudson Valley, with forecasters calling for anywhere from a few inches to a foot of snow to fall from Wednesday night through Thursday morning.

The storm is expected to hit the Thursday morning commute hard, and a combination of heavy snow and winds gusting up to 25 miles an hour could mean low visibility across much of the region. Forecasters are encouraging travelers to stay home if possible.

Weather sources to keep an eye on as the storm gets closer: the National Weather Service offices in Albany and Binghamton, and a local favorite, Hudson Valley Weather. As of Wednesday mid-day, the forecasters at Hudson Valley Weather are calling for more snow in the Hudson Valley and the southern edge of the Catskills, with snowfall predictions lower in the western and northern parts of the region.
