Teens killed in car accidents in New Paltz and Athens

It's turning into an awful week for teen drivers in the Catskills.

First, there was the fatal ATV accident on in Palenville on Monday that killed 15-year-old Michael White and 17-year-old Jennifer O'Brien.

Then yesterday, 17-year-old Natalia Gorgen was killed in New Paltz when her Ford Fiesta collided with a tractor-trailer going the opposite direction on Rte. 299. (The Times Herald-Record has the story and gut-wrenching photo gallery of the accident scene.)

And then this morning, Michael Vaughan, another 17-year-old, was killed by a passing car on Rte. 9W in Athens while walking along the roadside with his younger brother. The Daily Mail is reporting that a 22-year-old, Jillian Conway, was behind the wheel of the car that struck Vaughan.
