WCCRC Invites MBE / WBE Businesses To Be On Approved Contractor List

In 2010 legislation was enacted to strengthen Article 15A of the State’s Executive Law in an effort to eradicate the barriers that have impaired access to State contracting opportunities by minority and women-owned business enterprises (MBE/WBE).

Governor Andrew Cuomo issued a mandate on February 17, 2011 that every agency and authority of NY State meet a 20% MBE/WBE participation goal. Western Catskills Community Revitalization Council, Inc. (WCCRC) is a not-for-profit dedicated to the rehabilitation of affordable homes and the revitalization of communities. Working in southern Schoharie, western Greene and northern Delaware counties, they work with many general contractors and specialists in the construction field. WCCRC, as a participant in many state funded grants has been directed to reach out to MBE/WBEs in the region and encourage them to bid on the rehabilitation projects which they manage for various state agencies. WCCRC has recently been awarded close to $1 million of grant funding that is dedicated to construction work in its tri-county service area. Due to the volume of work that is expected in the construction field, WCCRC invites MBE/WBE businesses to apply to be on their approved contractor list. This list is a part of the information and application package that is distributed to their clients, and includes: architects, engineers, construction companies, plumbers, electricians and more.

Therefore, if you are a registered MBE/WBE, or if you think you would be eligible to register your business as a MBE/WBE, please contact Mike Martin, Program Director, at WCCRC at 607-652-2823 or [email protected] for more information.
