Fresh Ossabaw Pork, Fresh Lamb

The cooler will be full again this weekend with fresh meat!  Our grassfed fresh lamb, all cuts, will be available.  And Ossabaw Island pork, all cuts, as well!  Animal Welfare Approved meat!

The Ossabaw Island pig is a very rare breed. The pigs were brought by the Spanish exploring the coast of North America 400 years ago.  The Spanish pigs were left on islands to forage and be available as meat when the explorers returned.  Today, the pigs remain on Ossabaw Island, off the coast of Georgia, but some were brought to farms on the main land to reduce the island population in the past twenty years.  The pigs remain quite feral in their behavior, having all their survival instincts intact, and being just a couple generations in farm settings. They are a challenge to raise! The pigs are somewhat smaller than other traditional breeds, and the meat is exceptionally rich. Our friends, Peter and Mark of Turkana Farm in Columbia County, breed the Ossabaw which is where we obtain the piglets to raise.  This pork available this weekend, is also from their farm.

The freezer is well stocked with grassfed beef, lamb, pork, sausages and chicken.

Thanksgiving Turkey Order Time
The turkey poults are in the brooder shed!  Time to reserve your bird for Thanksgiving!  It may seem early to think about Thanksgiving, but most years we do sell out of turkeys, so please get your reservation in. We ask for a $10 deposit.
Turkeys usually range from 15 to 25 pounds, but each year is a bit different depending on the weather and genetics of the birds.  We will try our best to match your request with the right size birds, but expect that it may be several pounds different.  If you also want one for Christmas, you can reserve it, purchase it at the turkey sale, and we’ll be glad to freeze and store it for you until the next holiday. Call or e-mail for more info.

Pickup fresh at the farm Sat.-Sun., Nov. 21-22.  We will contact you when we are close to the pickup dates to set up an appointment. The turkeys will be wrapped, cleaned and ready to go!
