Build a Scarecrow for a Good Cause ... Help Feed the Hungry

Hi,
Get creative and bring your best scarecrow here! Your effort can help feed hungry folks in upstate NY.

Build a scarecrow and bring it over here to display by Oct. 3, the day of our Harvest Fair. Make it outrageous!  Join the scarecrow competition, in which contestants bring their most dapper decoy for fair goers to enjoy, while vying for the $100 Heather Ridge Farm gift certificate prize. The gift certificate can be applied to any of the food stuffs and artisan goods that we carry in our farm store, including grass fed meats, local pottery, wool products, cheeses, and more.

Here's where the good cause comes in .... Throughout the day the scarecrows will be auctioned off via silent auction to benefit The Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. The Food Bank, located in Latham NY, currently serves twenty three counties throughout New York state, and provides over thirty million pounds of food to disadvantaged families each year.  Heather Ridge Farm is also donating 5% of sales in the farm store that day to the Food Bank. Join us to help the Regional Food Bank in their mission to provide good food for all in upstate New York.

Harvest Fair
The Harvest Fair is Saturday Oct. 3 celebrating the abundance of the Catskills and Hudson Valley. The fair will feature local farmers, artisans, and producers displaying their products, cider pressing and tastings, wool spinning demonstrations, farm tours and fun fall treats. Live entertainment will be provided by Wes Laraway and The Birds of Prey of the NY Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, who were featured on Nat Geo TV.

Come join us for a fun day!  Bring your scarecrow! Come bid on a scarecrow to take home! Contribute a little fun effort that can go a long way to support the Regional Food Bank.
