Schoolhouse in Sidney Hosts Local Filmmaker - Jessica Vecchione - Film Fest Saturday July 7!

This Saturday, July 7th from 7-10:30pm, Maywood Arts will host a Film Fest of local filmmaker, Jessica Vecchione, at the Schoolhouse, 10770 County Road 23, Sidney Center, NY.  Ms. Vecchione, a resident of Hamden NY, is the producer of award-winning documentaries. Her video production company, Vecc Videography, specializes in videos for online marketing of local businesses and institutions. She is also the official videographer of the Arc of Delaware County. The July 7th Schoolhouse Film Fest will include these seven fantastic films and short documentaries:
 
1) "Bienvenidos a Fleischmanns - An Immigrant Community in Rural America" (60 min). Bienvenidos won the Special Jury Prize in Documentary at the 2009 Orlando Hispanic Film Festival and Best Documentary at the 2009 Black Earth Film Festival. It also screened at the 2009 Boston International Latino Film Festival and the 2011 Buffalo Niagara Film Festival.
2) "Robert, Portrait of an Art-er" (41 min). This award winning film screened at the 2012 Buffalo Niagara Film Festival and won Best Short Documentary at the DIY 2012 Film Festival. A fascinating film about about Robert Johnson, a little known artist and long time resident of Franklin, NY. In the late nineties, Robert began constructing fantastic stone castles and keeps from native stone in his small backyard. He has since created amazingly unique works at the homes of several Franklin residents. But Robert's artistic interests and instincts go way beyond his stonework. As a result, Robert’s house and yard are a work of art in which he lives his life.
3) Sidney NY Town Board Meeting 10/14/10 (19 min)
4) Making the Shift to Community Connections (18 min)
5) Fleischmanns NY - The Day After Irene 8/29/11 (17 min)
6) Occupy Wall Street 10/9/11 (17 min)
7) Margaretville NY, Rebuilds after Hurricane Irene (14 min)

Also, later in July, Maywood Arts, a program of the G.M.R.C.S., Inc., will present several week long intensive workshops. The classes will meet from 10-4pm, Monday through Friday and include a vegetarian lunch prepared from local gardens. The cost is $350 per intensive workshop. Maywood Arts hopes the community will take advantage of this incredible opportunity. Scholarships are available.
