Fresh Beef, Bacon and Taking the Scenic Route
8/10/12 - 2:34 pm
Fresh beef! Steaks for the grill, everything from flat irons to filet mignon! Fresh ground beef, kabobs, briskets and roasts. Nothing like it fresh! Farm Store and Cafe open from 11am-3pm both Saturday and Sunday, this weekend, Aug. 11-12. If you want a special cut reserved for you, for here or the Saugerties Market, just let us know.
And fresh chicken, of course. Big meaty ones, whole and parts. The cooler will be jammed full with fresh chicken and fresh beef!
AND, (drum roll please...) Bacon! Bacon! Bacon! Right from the smokehouse this week. Our no-nitrate, heritage breed pork bellies smoked naturally over mixed fruit and hickory wood for us at Mountain Products Smokehouse in LaGrangeville. Smoked ham steaks, too!
Farm Tour Sunday at 11am
Tour the farm, meet the animals (get kissed by a llama, if you are lucky) and see the methods we use to raise the various species here. Meet at the Farm store. Reservations appreciated. $5 per adult with up to two well behaved kids, or free if you are staying for lunch.
Take the Scenic Route
The road crew has torn up a culvert at the bottom of our road, and that short section of the road will be closed this weekend. The well marked detour, however, is spectacular! The detour is less than a half mile longer than the usual 3 mile climb, but more scenic ... windy part through shady woods, panoramic vistas of the Catskills, and our neighbor Lora's gorgeous farm, where our sheep live. You'll pass by our home, sheep, goats, brooder sheds and garden. A nice alternate route that let's you out right below the farm store and cafe. So don't let the detour deter you!
