The Arc of Delaware County
Delarc is Different…
“Welcome to The Arc of Delaware County, one of the Country’s most progressive and unique organizations. It’s Delarc’s unique culture that produces such remarkable results. It’s a culture that’s crystal clear and completely focuses on the individuals that we serve, in their learning and growth.”
George Suess, CEO
Located in rural upstate New York, The Arc of Delaware County is a private, non-profit organization which was founded in 1967 by a small group of concerned citizens seeking to fill the void of opportunity for their children and neighbors with disabilities.
The Arc of Delaware County is one of the country’s most unique and effective organizations serving children and adults with developmental disabilities. It serves as a resource for the local community, to industrial partners and to others in the field of human services. For more than three decades, Delarc has been committed to a proactive philosophy and positive approach, with a Board of Director’s policy prohibiting the use of aversive behavior techniques including physical restraints. From the way we care for the people we support to the way we treat our colleagues, everything we do is built on an atmosphere of caring without restraint.
In addition to the services we provide at a local level, Delarc is having a revolutionary impact on the field of human services, providing consultation and training services to organizations across the Country on how to eliminate the use of restraints, power struggles, and reactive responses. More information about our consulting services is available on our website.
