On Saturday, Aug. 30, the Belleayre Music Festival wraps up its 2014 summer season with Brooklyn@Belleayre, a Labor Day Weekend showcase of Brooklyn bands featuring Big Data, Lily and the Parlour Tricks, Joni Fatora and headliner The Hold Steady.

We're giving away two pairs of tickets to the concert. The first two people to email [email protected] win the tickets.

This Weekend: Pam Tanowitz Dance and FLUX Quartet at Mount Tremper Arts

This Friday night, the 2014 season at Mount Tremper Arts continues with Pam Tanowitz Dance, accompanied by the string FLUX Quartet, performing a dance piece called "Broken Story (wherein there is no ecstasy)" and other selections from their repertory. 

Tanowitz's choreography is "among the finest being made anywhere today," according to the New York Times, which wrote about her earlier this year and described her style as "eccentric," both like ballet and modern dance.

This Weekend: ICE percussionist Nathan Davis at Mount Tremper Arts

Tomorrow night, the 2014 season at Mount Tremper Arts opens with the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) performing the music of the group's resident percussionist, composer Nathan Davis. 

Davis specializes in the "fragile athleticism of playing" a variety of unusual musical instruments, from bassoons to cell phones. (Here's more on Davis from a 2011 New York Times article.)

This Weekend: The Duhks at the West Kortright Centre

The Duhks, a Grammy-nominated roots band from Canada, is playing this Saturday at the West Kortright Centre. The WKC is staying open well past their usual close date for the concert, which is part of a reunion tour for The Duhks, who specialize in blending jazz, Celtic rock and punk into a unique sound all their own.
