A 29-year-old Sullivan County man has been accused of murdering his 54-year-old mother -- a charge he has admitted to, according to state police.

Arrested was Andrew Moore of Bloomingburg, who faces a charge of second-degree murder in the case.

The investigation began after police found Moore's mother, Margaret Regalia, dead in her Bloomingburg home on Monday, Jan. 13. She had failed to show up at work that morning, and state troopers went to her house to check on her welfare.

Police found Regalia's body in the house. A state police news release did not include any infomation about the manner of her death.

Regalia's car, a 1999 Toyota Corolla, was missing from the house along with some personal property. Two days later, both Moore and his mother's car were found in the Middletown area, in nearby Orange County.

Moore was questioned, and admitted to killing his mother on the evening of Friday, Jan. 10, police say.

Moore was arraigned in Mamakating town court before Justice Joel W. Welsh and remanded to Sullivan County Jail without bail.

The New York State Police were assisted by the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office in the investigation.
