Police: Windham man injures one with shotgun, assaults another with ice pick

A 27-year-old man has been arrested for assaulting two other men in Windham on Sunday, according to the Daily Freeman.

The paper reports that Edward A. Russell fired a shotgun inside a residence on Mitchell Hollow Road in Windham on Sunday, and that the shot hit a 53-year-old man in the face. Russell then allegedly attacked another man with an ice pick.

The Freeman got its information from Greene County Sheriff Greg Seeley:

Seeley said the shooting occurred at about 5:45 p.m. Sunday at a residence on Mitchell Hollow Road in the town of Windham. He said Russell intentionally fired a rifle inside the residence, hitting the victim in the face following an altercation with the victim and a 38-year-old man, neither of whom were identified by authorities.

Seeley said the two men disarmed Russell, but he found an ice climbing pick and struck the other man with it, then fled into the woods nearby.

A neighbor saw Russell a short time later and contacted the authorities, Seeley said.

Seeley said Russell was found at the Windham Ridge Condos and taken into custody without further incident by Greene County sheriff’s deputies, state police and Windham police.
