Pine Hill man arrested on cocaine charges

Shandaken police and the Ulster Region Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team (URGENT) have reported that another arrest has been made in what is shaping up to be a busy spring for regional narcotics enforcement.  Yesterday Adam A. Demskie was picked up in Shandaken and charged with possession and sale of cocaine; allegedly he had sold to undercover agents in Kingston prior to his arrest.  He's being held without bail in Ulster County jail.

The arrest was the work of Shadaken detective Fred Holland.  Demskie boarded the Ulster County Area Transit bus in Pine Hill and Holland pulled the bus over in Big Indian.  "I was waiting for him," the detective told Watershed Post this morning.  "He was the only passenger on the bus."

While URGENT's press release connects Demskie with a county-scale investigation of narcotics traffic, officers familiar with the investigation have stated clearly that Demskie was not part of any big-time ring. Last year an Ulster County grand jury released sealed indictments for a variety of low and mid-level drug dealers in the Kingston area; Ulster County Undersheriff Frank Faluotico confirmed that Demskie was subject to one of those indictments and was not working in concert with other dealers.

"It was a buy and bust case," Holland stated.

URGENT's press release reads as follows:

Members of the ULSTER REGIONAL GANG ENFORCEMENT NARCOTICS TEAM (URGENT) report the arrest of an additional defendant in a county-wide drug sales investigation. Adam A. Demskie, 28, of Pine Hill and also 26 Brewster Street, Kingston, was arrested . . . in the Town of Shandaken Wednesday afternoon. Demskie sold cocaine to undercover police officers on several occasions in and around the City of Kingston during the investigation. Demskie was arrested, transported to the Ulster County Law Enforcement Center and charged with: 2 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree and 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (all class B felonies). Demskie is held without bail pending arraignment in Ulster County Court.
