Drunken gunman arrested in Port Ewen

This may be upstate New York, but getting drunk and waving a shotgun still gets you arrested around here. From the Daily Freeman:

A 50-year-old man was in custody after police responded to a report of an “intoxicated man armed with a shotgun” in Port Ewen early Tuesday morning, according to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said at about 1:45 a.m., deputies and state troopers responded to 235 Broadway and, upon arrival, were initially unable to locate him or safely gain access to the home.

Police said it had been reported that several people were inside, including children, and Franklyn Balcom, whom they later arrested in connection with “an incident involving firearms,” was asleep.
