Neversink grow operation catches fire, gets found by State Police

An early morning fire at a house in Neversink turned into a pot bust, the State Police report.

When emergency responders arrived at the home around 3am on Wednesday morning, they allegedly found six scorched marijuana plants and five pounds of processed weed. The fire was located in the attic of the home, which had reportedly been converted into a marijuana greenhouse. According to the press release, the cause of the blaze was the wiring of the electrical equipment used to grow the plants.

Police arrested Linda and John Dammier and charged them with criminal possession of marijuana.

State Police at Liberty respond to residential fire in Neversink, and arrest husband and wife.

State Police announce the arrest of Linda and John Dammier, of Neversink, NY.

On December 29, 2010, at approximately 3:15am, Sullivan County 911 dispatched fire and emergency personnel to a structure fire in Neversink, NY. Upon arrival, Emergency personnel located fire in the attic of the residence. There appeared to be a marijuana growing operation in the attic. The electrical wiring of the equipment utilized for the growing of marijuana appeared to be the cause of the fire. A search of the residence revealed approximately six marijuana plants damaged by the fire. It also revealed approximately five pounds of harvested marijuana. Both subjects were taken into custody and charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree, and Unlawful Growing of Cannibus. Linda was arraigned before Town Justice Bauman and released on her own recognizance. John was arraigned before Town Justice Bauman and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $5,000 cash bail. They were scheduled to reappear at a later date.
